The PDXBands Podcast:

In addition to offering mp3s for your listening pleasure, PDXBands.com offers a podcast show which features music from Portland-area artists or just artists we really enjoy.

In order to listen to subscribe to our podcast, you will need to install a podcasting application. We recommend iTunes for ease of use. So, if you are on a Mac, you can subscribe by clicking this button (which will launch iTunes) , or click here if you want to subscribe through the iTunes store (any platform). OR you can add the podcast manually (easier than it sounds) by copying the following link into your podcast program: http://www.pdxbands.com/PDXBandsPodcast.xml. Adding a podcast manually to iTunes is very easy. Here's what you need to do.

* -Go to the "Advanced" menu in the menubar
* -Go to "Subscribe to Podcast" on that menu
* -Paste in the URL for the show "http://www.pdxbands.com/PDXBandsPodcast.xml"
* -Click the "OK" button

That's it.

Each Podcast mp3 is also linked to from the corresponding show-related blog posting (the blog is located on the homepage). Show-related blog posts will be appended with the text "Click here to download the podcast."

Non-Podcast Listening: How to Listen to Songs on PDXBands.com

PDXBands.com presents music in mp3 format, for both streamed listening and download. Mp3s and .M3u (the mp3 playlist filetype we use for streaming) are supported by Winamp (recommended for PC), iTunes (recommended for Mac), Windows Media Player and Real Player. Quicktime will play both file types, but may not stream (it may download the entire file first).

What to click:

To listen, click the links labeled "Listen To This Artist".

To Download, click the links labeled "SongTitle" on the artist details page.

If you click and nothing happens, the artist you selected may not have uploaded any music yet, or there may be an error, which you can report to us.

Netscape users: You may need to set a new MIME type in order to listen to
to streaming audio from PDXBands.com. It's easier than it sounds...

1. Under your browser's "Edit" menu, select "Preferences".
2. Select "Navigator" and then "Applications" from the category picker.
3. Press the "New Type" button.
4. Complete all four fields that pop up as follows:

• Description of type: Mp3 Audio Playlist
• File Extension: m3u
• MIME Type: audio/x-mpegurl
• Application to use: (browse to and select the audioplayer of your choice)
