I saw a pretty life-changing band the other night when they opened up for Kickball at the Food Hole. It's called Typhoon, and it's like ten kids between ages 17-21 that just completely blew me away with how heartfelt and absolutely rocking they were. Everybody in the band was singing along really loud and the front-kid had a crazily confident voice and then switched over to drums and rocked just as hard. It was gorgeous stuff. I can't wait to see them again, and I hope they stick with it. Just wanted to share them with you. Listen to "rollingcredits" on their myspace site and you'll start to get the whole idea. They had a trumpet, garbage cans, a violin, two guitarists bass, and other stuff. Just listen to that Zepplin-esque drumming. It's intense.

Bobby Birdman plays at Reed tonight- he is a genius who is carving out an entirely new genre of music which is experimental but still very accessible and fun. 5 bucks, 8:30, student union.
Also, Robyn Hitchcock plays at the Doug Fir tomorrow night. The man is a master craftsman who switches between hillarious and deeply touching in a matter of seconds. There's a great lineup at Loveland tomorrow as well with Minus the Bear, Appleseed Cast, etc. What a weekend it's going to be!

I checked out the Parks and Rec show last night at Berbati's. They are worthy of your attention. ...AND thanks to Alex for posting his best of 2005. I'm feeling lucky myself that I found at least 2 albums in 2005 that have entered my Best Albums Ever list. One was actually released in 2005, and I gushed endlessly about it already: John Vanderslice's Pixel Revolt ("I love you too"). The other is The Execution Of All Things by Rilo Kiley ("You loved things just because, like the sick and the dying"). That came out a couple years back and I am late to the party. An amazing record.
